:)

It's for company use, and will be used all over
the US, and Canada. I'm looking for a good plan
that has good access from mostly metropolitan
areas. I have Cingular now for my personal mobile
phone, but I don't want to be swayed by that.

Any thoughts or experiences, good or bad, are
welcomed.

Thanks!

I came across an article this morning in Wired online dealing with
"meganiche" sites. In passing: "HowardForums.com hosts discussions
devoted to niches within a niche. Conversations are broken down by
carrier and manufacturer – Cingular, Motorola, Nokia, and so on. Within
those sections are subsections on subjects like troubleshooting and
modding, and within those are threads on specific topics like Rokr
firmware and Verizon's customer service." Can't hurt to have a look.

Hi Bob,

Can't help with plans and providers, but I had a Blackberry for a while
(courtesy of a client). I found that loading Google Maps (there's a
special Blackberry version) on the thing was *really* helpful.

my company blackberry is via t-mobile. its great if you have to travel
internationally, as they have sane plans (unlimited international data
plan for an additional $20!)

but I dislike my blackberry. horrible email client (ironic, I know),
unfun UI, and I quite hate the thumbwheel. the antenna isn't as good
as my nokia mobile. (I've been in places with zero service on my
blackberry, and 7/7 bars on my nokia.)

Who is the carrier on the Nokia?

I've tried T-Mobile, Nextel and Cingular for Blackberry service. Only GSM
carriers can provide roaming service outside the US, so this pushed me away
from Nextel. I tried T-Mobile first because I liked the new "Pearl" handset
with it's camera, but their coverage in Sonoma County is pretty bad. I'm
not on Cingular and it's better, but not as good as Nextel.

I have used a Blackberry on Nextel's network for years, and LOVE the instant
email access. I find the thumbwheel to be a good interface design, I cannot
imagine another way to scroll through my inbox and messages in an easier way
with one hand.
